HUT Market Basics: Build Your Bankroll and Trade Smarter
Hi everyone,
I'm cthor93, and I'll be your guide for HUT market general knowledge, tips, and predictions.
I won't claim to know everything there is to know, but I'll do my best to give you the tools you need to start forming your own insights.
Making Your Starting Coins
To begin making coins, I would suggest doing the current event and TOTW Rookie and Semi-Pro HUT Moments that give 1,000–2,000 coins. They take around two minutes.
Online Ranked and, to a lesser extent, offline Cup Chase both count toward the XP path. These activities will also help you earn tradeable rewards.
By following this basic formula, you'll start building a bankroll.
HUT Market: The Golden Rule
> Buy low, sell high—and sell your tradeables!
Smart market users look ahead and predict changes, such as when TOTW sets move from requiring 79/80 OVR cards to 80/81 OVR cards.
This usually happens every two or three weeks. If the requirements have stayed the same for the last three weeks, buying 80/81 OVR cards before Wednesday at 5 PM EST could be a smart move.
Always keep supply and demand in mind. Buying ahead of a potential increase in demand can be a relatively low-risk way to make coins, but no prediction is guaranteed.
Avoid “Bag Holding”
Buying cards as soon as they release and holding onto high-overall cards can—and will—lose you coins.
Sell higher overalls if you take them out of your lineup or if you're planning on restructuring your team ahead of a big content drop.
Buying power is important. Holding onto those cards for too long can leave you with fewer coins to take advantage of other opportunities.
Build your stack, watch the market, make your predictions, and be willing to adjust when things don't go your way.
