Price checking: How? And how often?

A short guide to price checking and selling fodder, higher overalls, valuable/rare and Fantasy cards in HUT.

Knowing a cards value because of chemistry, sets, rarity, and popularity applies before anything.

Everyone makes mistakes though, don't beat yourself up if you accidentally sell something for less than it's worth!

Fodder and mass selling

Save fodder by overall and then price check when you feel that you have enough worth offloading. Start selling a few at a time (so as not to flood the market and consequently drop the price). I would put these up for 1 hour at a time. These should sell within a few minutes if you sell them at the right time and price.

Higher overalls (84+)

Send higher overalls (84+ overall at the time of this post) to your trade pile and manually price check all of them. I would suggest putting them up for 1–3 hours at a time if you're going to be online. Relist when you can. At the end of your chel session, there's no harm in putting these up overnight. Just make sure no potential META lines release during the timeframe of you selling these, even if it's unlikely.

Rare or slower selling items

For rare or slower selling items, send them to your trade pile and manually price check them. It's a good idea to follow how many of these are being sold and for how much.
Listing duration should match market activity; adjust if demand or competition changes.

Pricing strategy for long listings

A good rule of thumb if you choose to list something for 6+ hours is:

1. Set your card's bid price to 5–10% lower than the lowest listed buy now.
2. Set a slightly lower buy now than the lowest or second lowest buy now.

That way it has a chance to be bid on, and potentially draws eyes to your listing.

Fantasy cards are special cases. Make sure you know when your Fantasy cards' team is playing. If your listing overlaps with the game, they could score one or multiple goals, and if your listing is priced at selling at it's current overall, then you're out of luck. During games is also the time people will buy out of FOMO. If a player scores one, they might buy a card for 100-200k more than what a current overall would go for.

It's up to you how you play it in these situations.

The bottom line

Price checking can be tedious, but if you're trying to make coin, then this is the way to do it when selling your cards in HUT!
